Fall is here, and the DJs behind Electropical are back with two great gigs to heat up the season.
Join DJ Marc Fournier on Saturday, October 17 for the debut of Fiesta Africana.
“The whole African diaspora will be represented in music (as much as 4 hours allows), including soukous, champetta, coupé décalé, kizomba, azonto, timba, etc.,” Marc says.
“And two days before the federal election, we will need to hear the drums talk more than ever! That is why I am very pleased to share the stage with two exceptional percussionists: Israel Toto Berriel and Yoro Noukoussi.” Full gig details here.
And join DJ Michael Laycock (Electropical) and guest DJ Hubbz (The Payback) on Saturday, November 21 for the fifth edition of Worldbeat Sessions — a new night of global grooves designed for the dance floor.
Hubbz and Michael will go worldwide — from Lima to Lagos, Caracas to Cairo, salsa to soukous, and electronic to funk — as they explore the grooves they have in common. And Electropical favourite Yoro Noukoussi will bring the percussion to life. Full gig details here.
Both events happen around 10 pm (when the play ends next door) at the Backstage Lounge, 1585 Johnston St, Granville Island. Groups are always welcome!
Enjoy the season, and see you on the dance floor!
